U5 – Born 2015

SoccerAgeGroupMatrix
NASC is excited to provide an introductory program for your 4 and 5 year old. We will run one session each Saturday during the season at 9am at McKinney Field.  A child is not permitted to “play up” and enroll in the U5 program if he/she is not eligible (see the Age Group chart under Registration). This program includes approximately eight sessions (weather permitting).
Due to the young age of the children, the session will be limited to the first 80 children registering.  It will fill up quickly so we recommend registering early.

U-5 Saturday “sessions” will incorporate both skill development drills and small-sided games. Each session will be approximately one hour long, divided between drills and games.

Instruction in this league is focused on individual ball handling skills and, more importantly, it is structured for the kids to have a lot of fun so that their first experience with soccer will be a positive one.  These sessions are directed by a volunteer coach. Teams of 8-10 children are formed to work with an coach. The session will consist of approximately 40 minutes of skills development followed by a modified game of soccer within your own team. As the season progresses, teams may move to other fields to play other teams.

Your child will be with the same team for instruction and the game each week.  Your team will be assigned a field number.  You will need to report to the same field number each week.  Your coordinator will place 8-10 field number signs on McKinney field each Saturday morning.

The fields are short, the goals are small, and the games are very quick. There are no goalkeepers. This game promotes many “ball touches” for each child, and provides the opportunity for the children to put their ball handling and dribbling skills to use.

Equipment needed for U5:

  • A size 3 soccer ball
  • Reversible jersey (purchased through this site for $25 – used for multiple seasons)
  • Water bottle
  • Shin guards
  • Soccer socks that cover the shin guards.
  • Shoes (soccer cleats are recommended, but not required). Baseball and Football cleats are NOT permitted.

Program Cost

Registration fee – $85
Reversible jersey (if you don’t own one already) – $25

Volunteers Needed! NASC is an entirely volunteer run organization. For each U5 session, we need a minimum of 2 coaches to help with the drills and run the games. If you have ever considered coaching, this is a great time to start, even if you have never played before! You can learn the game along with your child, and potentially continue as your child moves into older age groups. You’re going to be at the field anyway, so you might as well join in the fun! Look for the volunteer section as you register your child.
